You don't have to exercise hours a day to benefit. You can increase your daily exercise without even putting on exercise clothes or spending hour after hour in the gym when you use these simple fitness tips to help you achieve your goal.
Fitness Tip #1 Short Burst Training for Shorter Periods
Burst training or Short-Burst training is a series of exercises that go from high intensity or maximum speed to low intensity movement or speed. You can use it in place of running long distances and it actually has a more beneficial effect on your heart besides getting you in shape quicker.
The whole idea is to maximize your speed and exertion for 30 seconds and then allow your body to recover for 90 seconds.
- First start with a three-minute warm up before you begin.
- Then add a burst of speed, running all out to raise your heart rate as high as possible.
- After the 20 to 30 second all out run, slow down to a slight jog or fast walk (depending on what shape you're in at the time).
- Repeat this cycle for a total of eight times. End with a cool down time of about two minutes. You'll find that you'll start to sweat about the second or third repetition. If you're out of shape, only do as many reps as you feel comfortable. Hopefully, you'll do at least three. You can do the same thing running, riding a bike or any other type of aerobic exercise you choose. (Make sure to consult with your doctor before you start any exercise programs).
